“If music is the food of love, play on…”

Folks, we all know that COVID-19 has forever changed our lives. Those of us fortunate enough to be able to continue some sort of our former normality, are the truly fortunate ones. With our feet firmly on the ground, Magda’s has always focused our arts and cultural excellence through the prism of community, environment and social justice for all. With this brave new world upon us, we’ve had to cancel many fabulous events with local, national and international performers, through into the end of 2021.

Until we are able to meet again on another occasion, please keep watching us. We might not have events coming up but please keep going to our history page – repeatedly! – and listen to our catalogue of the most exquisite performers. Take care and we will keep dropping you newsletters, as and when we can.

“…play on, and on, and on!”

Aims

To provide an artistic and creative space, resources and mentors that will:

#be available to a broad cross-section of the local community  – regardless of age, gender, physical abilities, ethnic background, religious or philosophical persuasions.

#promote a greater sense of self and community through shared artistic, creative and intellectual endeavours, within a safe, nourishing and non-threatening atmosphere.

#be an appealing and challenging centre of learning through myriad enjoyable activities combining music and song, dance and exercise, theatre and play, health and wellbeing options – of multiple genres be they traditional or experimental.

#enhance the development of an increasingly inclusive, tolerant and bouyant community dynamic based on mutual understanding and respect of difference and originality

#facilitate a sense of personal and shared responsibility and resilience, enhanced self esteem and self reliance that invigorates and tends all away from dependent and addictive behaviours.

#assist the growth of intellectual, cultural and environmental awareness generating increasingly sustainable, non-violent and balanced life choices.

Measuring success

We know we are succeeding when we have within the local community, former participants for whom “the Arts” are not simply activities to be viewed as consumers from the outside, but which have become an essential personal ethos, woven into the fabric of their daily lives. And who may be also conducting/teaching such activities themselves.
